Nicknamed Wistful Happy because of his sad but endearing expression, this 18 inch bear is a replica of a top seller at the 2012 Steiff Summer Auction. The original bear was once made of tipped mohair, but this effect faded over time. The airbrush artisans at Steiff called attention to the original tipping by painting in the ears, at the neck and the seams. In fact, the whole bear is painted to achieve an antique effect, with special attention paid to the area under the eyes, which gives this happy bear its wistful expression. This cheerful five-way jointed bear features large dark brown glass pupil eyes, a squeaker, loosely jointed head and is wood stuffed.
