Steiff, founded over 100 years ago in Germany, is the world’s oldest plush company. They were Steiff bears that President Theodore Roosevelt placed on each table at his daughter’s wedding reception, thus giving rise to the name “teddy bear.” The Steiff line features classic teddy bears, cuddly animals, pets and farm animals, wild animals, and studio animals.

Effanbee Doll Company produces two of the oldest and best-loved collectible doll lines: Kewpie dolls, first made in the 1950’s, and Patsy dolls, which originated in the 1920’s. Daddy’s is known as the leading maker of African-American collectible dolls. The Daddy’s line features Daddy’s Long Legs dolls which are very poseable because of their dangling arms and legs. Annette Funicello, known as “America’s Sweetheart” since her days as a Disney Mouseketeer, launched the Annette Funicello Collectible Bear Co. in 1992. She offers bears with a special feminine touch. Seriously ill with muscular dystrophy, Annette donates a portion of the profits from the sale of her teddy bears to muscular dystrophy research.

Richard Simmons, popular TV personality and fitness guru, markets a unique series of figurines and dolls. His Nana’s Family and Reminder Angel figurines depict human figures, mostly older people, with very interesting faces, combining extraordinary detail with a touch of humor.
