Creator Annalee Thorndike made her first doll as a young girl in 1934, and turned her hobby into a commercial enterprise in the early 1950's. Annalee would select a theme, and then she would create a collection of dolls surrounding that theme. Annalee is known for her poseable dolls featuring a variety of mice, bears, rabbits, and other stuffed animals, as well as human figures, with collections reflecting everyday events and occupations, as well as seasonal events (Christmas, Valentine's Day, Irish Celebration, Spring, Halloween, and Harvest Days).
