Steiff®,
founded in Germany by Margerete Steiff over 100 years ago,
is the world's oldest plush company and is widely acknowledged
as the leading manufacturer of teddy bears and stuffed animals.
They were Steiff bears that President Theodore Roosevelt placed
on each table at his daughter's wedding reception, thus giving
rise to the name "teddy bear." The Steiff line features

- Claire Steiff Meisel, granddaughter of Richard Steiff, inventor of the teddy bear, will be here to sign your Steiff pieces and talk with you about the Steiff family and all things Steiff. Even if you can't make it, you can order Steiff pieces online or by phone and Claire will sign them for you.
- Chuck Steffes, noted Steiff expert, will preview the new fall/Christmas 2009 line and will present a new video, "Ode to Joy, the Story of Margarete Steiff," commemorating the 100th anniversary of the passing of Steiff's founder.
