R. John Wright
has delighted collectors worldwide since 1976 with his inspired
designs of dolls, bears, and animals drawn from classic children's
literature. His award-winning creations include: Winnie-the-Pooh©,
Raggedy Ann & Andy, Rose O'Neill's Kewpies®,
The World of Beatrix Potter, classic Disney characters,
Paddington Bear, Curious George®, St. Exupery's
The Little Prince, Lewis Carroll's Alice, and Thomas
Nast's Santa Claus. These highly collectible dolls and animals
have all been handmade in numbered limited editions by skilled
artisans under John and Susan Wright's direct supervision
at the R. John Wright workshop in Cambridge, New York. Each
creation is distinguished by an extraordinarily high level
of design and craftsmanship.
In November 2004 the company moved to Bennington, Vermont,
only a half hour from the previous manufacturing facility
in upstate New York. John and Susan Wright continue to oversee
all phases of design and production, always stressing the
integrity of design and the highest quality in craftsmanship--the
twin cornerstones of all R. John Wright collectibles.
R. John Wright dolls and animals have been honored
with numerous awards, among them the Doll of the Year (DOTY)
award, the Golden Teddy award, the Dolls Magazine Award of
Excellence, the Golden George Award, and the Jumeau Trophy--all
prestigious symbols of recognition for achievement in the
collectibles field. The R. John Wright Collectors Club was
launched in 1996, and in 2004, R. John Wright - The
Art of Toys, the first fully-authorized comprehensive
book on the work of R. John Wright, was published by Reverie
Publishing.
